Friday, April 24

Today, is Friday, April 24, 2020.  The water level of the pond looks different, the reflections change too.

While there is uncertainty around us right now, there is also love and kindness around us, always.

During times of uncertainty, it helps to have some structured routines. We’d like to offer a daily anchoring message for those of you who may find it helpful for you, your coworkers, your loved ones, and/or your community.

Here’s what you can do today, right now, during transitions, after listening to the news or when going to sleep:

  • Roll your shoulders back, smile to yourself, & relax your jaw.
  • Take slow deep belly breaths, allowing your stomach to rise with each breath in and relax with each breath out. You may find that each breath gets better and better. Allow your shoulders to relax on each exhale.
  • Connect with a friend you have not spoken to for a while.
    1. Reminisce about old times, share a joke.

Anchor yourself with this daily statement:

“I am [*Name*]. I am doing what I can to be helpful. I love myself because I have kindness and love in my heart and soul. I am part of the global community and we are all working together to get through this. This is temporary. We can do this. As I think about those I love and care for, I send loving kindness out to all people.”

Today’s Inspiration: A quote by C.S. Lewis

“Friendship … is born at the moment when one man says to another ‘What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .’”

Today’s Inspiration: from Dr. Gina Kring. Photos of her garden’s progress.

“The snow has melted off the daffodils twice this week.  Fragrant grape hyacinth have popped up. Early red tulips are starting to peak out of their buds. Summer perennials like corral bells, mint, periwinkle, hosta are starting to come out.  The garden reminds me of a good team.  Each member has different rhythms and styles.  Individually each is a star but they really shine together.  Just as the hardy early bloomers start to fade, the next crop fills in and brings their strengths to adjust to the ever-changing environment.”

Next day Follow up from Dr. Gina Kring’s Garden

One day later and the tulips are opening.  Spring is gathering momentum
